What is the easiest way to obtain an appointment at HelpPeopleEAP?
The easiest way to obtain an appointment is to call 315-470-7447 or 800-777-6110. Our office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.EST. For urgent matters, a counselor is on-call 24/7.
Will my employer or anyone else know if I use the EAP?
EAP Counseling is strictly confidential. No one, including your employer, is made aware of the fact that you’ve contacted EAP or utilized the counseling service. You would have to provide written permission for this information to be released to another party. The EAP is bound by strict legal and ethical guidelines. No one besides the EAP staff has access to your records. However, in cases of child abuse, elder abuse, or where a person is a threat to his or someone else’s safety, the counselor may notify the proper authorities.
How many counseling sessions am I able to have?
The number of counseling sessions that you are allowed will depend on your employer’s plan. Your counselor will review this with you and what is appropriate for your situation or problem.
Can I use EAP Counseling more than once per year?
You are also allowed to utilize the EAP more than once per year if you have a new issue arise even if you have recently utilized the service.
Is there a cost for the counseling?
There is no cost to you for utilizing the EAP services. Our services are sponsored by your employer upfront. They are not paid for on a fee-for-service basis. If you are referred to a treatment provider outside of HelpPeople, a cost involved outside of your insurance coverage may be assessed.
What do I need to bring to the EAP session?
You do not need to bring anything to the session. There is no cost involved, and we do not need you to provide your insurance information.
